Cam timing

Hello all

Erland at https://www.topplocksverkstan.se/fyrtaktsid4.html suggested to advance exhaust 4 and intake 8 degrees. This after putting engine and cam values in computer program.

So I measured exhaust and found they to be wrong even Morini manual ( 57 / 18 )

This we cannot alter, but they still are too much retarder. To to make modification a bit more simple I might advance all cams 5-10 degrees as it is quite simple with offset key (Part 11).

Have anyone done this kind of adjustments here?

Hi Vesall,

that sounds crazy. I neved heard that bevor in the morini community.
But maybe that solve the problem that the most people had then they adjust the valve play.
It is not possible to adjust the cams 100% exactly with the cam marks horizontly to the cylinder head.
It is a half tooth misaligned.

Looking forward that you open a new chapter at the morni engine.
Every people know the the characteristic from a combustion engine is made from his cam timing.

Let us know, if you had some news.

best regards,
Falko

Hi Falco

Today i put bike together after decision of not to adjust cams this summer :)

Other alternative for adjusting cams is to make new key slots for other gear (8)
This with 5 new slots with 2-3 degrees separation.
Might check this with one local company if they can modify gear or make a new with many key slots

Last winter i planned also check if it is possible to change ratio for sixth gear as it is a bit too narrow for highway use, but i have not played with gear box before and it looks little too complicated this time.
